AUSTIN, Texas (AP) ? The Democratic senator whose filibuster helped derail tough new Texas abortion restrictions weeks ago is giving closing remarks in the latest special session.
Sen. Wendy Davis was speaking late Friday night, with the Senate poised to vote on the measure after weeks of protests.
The same bill was derailed three weeks ago by Davis' marathon filibuster and angry protests. This time, Democrats say they have little chance of stopping the bill.
Republicans are expected to pass it and send it to Republican Gov. Rick Perry. He's said he'll sign it.
But Democratic senators on Friday had sought to soften the bill and enter into the legislative record material that could help in a court battle.
