Apple ?s (AAPL) Taiwanese Manufacturing Partner Expected to Ship 3M iPad Minis in Q4?12

Pegatron is expected to ship 3 million units of the iPad Mini in the fourth quarter of the current fiscal year, according to a Focus Taiwan News Channel report citing a Barclays Plc (BCS) research note, dated Sept. 27.

The Taiwanese Daily reports that?Kirk Yang, a Hong Kong-based analyst at Barclays had originally forecast that Pegatron, a company which recently managed to secure 50 to 60 percent of production orders from Apple on the as-yet-unannounced iPad Mini, would assemble 70% of the total iPad Mini this year, but ?the ratio was revised down to only 30% because of Pegatron?s likely yield rate issue.?

?Unlike [Taiwan's Hon Hai Precision Industry Co, currently the exclusive assembler of iPads], Pegatron lacks the experience for tablet assembly, which has a long learning curve,? Yang wrote in his note to clients.

Yang goes on to say that Hon Hai would assemble 6 million to 7 million units of the iPad mini, or 60% of the total allocation for fiscal 2012.

Although Barclays analysis seems to imply that the mass production of iPad Minis had been delayed to October from September based on supply constraints of some key components, Yang believed Apple would not postpone its iPad Mini launch.

?As most iPad component vendors ramp up shipments in September that would continue into the fourth quarter of 2012, we do not see any signs of a postponed shipment schedule, suggesting an on-time October product launch,? he noted.

If Apple?s new iPad, which will be a miniature version of its successful tablet iPad tablet, will?be unveiled in October, just in time to go onto the market for the Christmas rush, it could potentially destroy Amazon (AMZN)?s Kindle Fire and other competitors in the 7-inch tablet market.

Meanwhile, in other iPad-Mini news ; a new video of what appears to be a mockup of Apple?s heavily rumored iPad-Mini has hit the Web, confirming all the suppositions made about Apple (AAPL) being interested in creating a 7-inch iPad.

The non-particularly revealing 1-minute long video by Japanese based website, Macotakara, shows the iPad Mini will be small enough to hold comfortably in one hand. According to the Huffington Post, the new iPad is expected to have a narrower bezel allowing for a larger screen in the 7.85-inch form factor, compared to the 9.7-inch screen on Apple?s current iPad version, with a front and back side camera, Wifi, and dipper Facebook (FB) and Google (GOOG) Map integration.

According to speculations there is a general consensus that the iPad Mini,?which as we mentioned is expected to be announced this October, will run on Apple?s iOS 6, the new operating system for iPhones and iPads. There is also talk about the tech giant?s very own music service, something similar to Pandora Radio.
