Associate Vice President for Finance - HigherEdJobs

Bennington College invites applications for an Associate Vice President for Finance. Reporting to the Vice President/CFO, this newly-created
leadership position will directly oversee the College's financial administration including financial and business planning, annual operating
and capital budgeting, financial and management reporting and analysis, general accounting, procurement, cash management, payroll, risk
management, external audit and tax oversight and internal control compliance. The Associate Vice President will act as a strategic partner
to the Vice President/CFO and assist with the review, development and implementation of an ongoing strategic financial plan, ensuring that
Bennington stays forward-thinking and fully invested to its educational mission. The AVP will engage with all areas of the College to
strengthen the overall effectiveness of the College's financial operations, making recommendations and implementing improvements in fiscal
operations and reporting where appropriate.

The ideal candidate will be highly engaging - a strategic thinker and planner - have a sophisticated understanding of financial management operations, and possess a broad range of financial management/operations experience including accounting, budgeting, financial planning and reporting, risk management, payroll, audit and compliance. The Associate Vice President will lead the College's efforts to streamline the financial and related reporting management systems. Candidates should be technologically savvy with experience using financial management systems and have strong project management skills including demonstrated success in managing systems implementation.

The position directly supervises five reports (Controller, Benefits Manager, Project Manager, Management Information Analyst and Post Office Manager), with a total staff of 14. Areas of responsibility include the College's Business Office as well as its Post Office and Bookstore operations. The Associate Vice President serves as the College's compliance officer and as needed, may also assist the Vice President/CFO with Board of Trustees presentations.

Candidates must possess strong communication skills; the ability to successfully collaborate and engage with individuals at all levels of the institution is essential. The position requires strong analytical skills, a minimum of 10 years of experience, including experience in a senior/leadership role, preferably working within higher education, healthcare or a similar non-profit environment, and demonstrated experience/knowledge of related non-profit tax laws/regulations. A bachelor's degree is required; CPA preferred.
