OpenTable update brings Foodspotting photos to restaurant listings

OpenTable

Restaurant reservation booking service OpenTable has just update its Android app to include images on restaurant listings from popular service Foodspotting. If you'll recall back to January, OpenTable purchased Foodspotting (which has its own app) in a natural combination of two dining-based services. Well it didn't take long to integrate the services, as now restaurant listings will show foodspotting images from other diners.

For now, if you want to participate in Foodspotting by adding your own images, you'll still need to download the Foodspotting app. We could imagine at some point in the future both apps (and services) will completely combine, but for now they're at least integrating at one point. Grab a download of the updated OpenTable app from the Play Store link above.

Kerry arrives in Iraq on unannounced visit

BAGHDAD (AP) ? U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry is in Iraq on an unannounced visit to urge Iraqi leaders to overcome sectarian differences that still threaten the country's stability following the 10-year anniversary of the American-led invasion that toppled dictator Saddam Hussein.

Kerry flew into Baghdad on Saturday from Amman after accompanying President Barack Obama to Israel, the Palestinian Authority and Jordan. Officials traveling with him said he would press Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki and other senior officials on democratic reforms and urge them to stop overflights of Iranian aircraft carrying military personnel and equipment to support the Syrian government as it battles rebels.

The overflights have been a source of contention between the U.S. and Iraq and Kerry will tell the Iraqis that letting them continue will threaten Iraq's stability.

NEW YORK (AP) ? The chemistry is over: rock outfit My Chemical Romance has disbanded.

The New Jersey-based band announced Saturday that "it has come time for it to end." The foursome thanked fans in a statement and said the experience was "a true blessing."

My Chemical Romance's sound is a mix of alternative, punk rock and pop. Band members released their debut album in 2002 but really made a splash on the music scene in 2004 with the platinum-selling "Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge." It featured the top-40 hit "Helena."

Tiffany 4Q net income rises less than 1 pct

NEW YORK (AP) ? Tiffany says its fourth-quarter net income edged up less than 1 percent, but still beat Wall Street predictions as strong customer demand in Asia for its pricey baubles offset weakness in the U.S.

The upscale jewelry company also offered an annual sales outlook that topped analysts' estimates, and its shares rose nearly 2 percent Friday.

The results, which include the critical holiday season, show Tiffany's resilience even as it faces challenges in the U.S. and a fiscal crisis in Europe.

For the quarter ended Jan. 31, Tiffany earned $179.6 million, or $1.40 per share. Revenue rose 4 percent to $1.24 billion.

Analysts polled by FactSet expected earnings of $1.36 per share on $1.25 billion in revenue.

"While financial results in fiscal 2012 were disappointing due to lower-than expected sales growth and pressures on gross margin, we continued to maintain a longer term focus on strengthening global awareness of the Tiffany & Co. brand," Michael J. Kowalski, Tiffany's chairman and chief executive officer, said in a statement.

Total sales in the Americas region increased 2 percent to $620 million in the fourth quarter and 2 percent to $1.8 billion in the full year. The area represents 48 percent of last year's global revenue. Revenue at stores open at least a year declined 2 percent in both the quarter and full year on a constant exchange rate basis. Sales in the New York flagship store dropped 3 percent in both the quarter and full year, while that figure dropped 2 percent for its branch locations for both periods.

In the Asia-Pacific region, total sales rose 13 percent to $254 million in the fourth quarter and 8 percent to $810 million in the full year. The region represents 21 percent of worldwide sales. On a constant exchange rate basis, total sales rose 10 percent in the fourth quarter due to sales growth in Greater China and in other markets and rose 8 percent in the full year. On that basis, revenue at stores opened at least a year rose 6 percent in the quarter and 2 percent for the full year.

Total sales in Japan declined 6 percent to $192 million in the fourth-quarter, reflecting a weaker Japanese yen versus the U.S. dollar and increased 4 percent to $639 million or 17 percent of worldwide sales in the full year. However, on a constant exchange rate basis, total sales rose 2 percent in the quarter and 6 percent in the full year. On that basis, revenue at stores opened at least a year rose 2 percent and 7 percent in the quarter and full year respectively.

In Europe, total sales rose 3 percent to $146 million in the fourth quarter due to mixed performance by country and also rose 3 percent to $432 million or 11 percent of worldwide sales in the full year. On a constant exchange rate basis, total sales rose 3 percent and 7 percent in the quarter and full year respectively. Revenue at stores opened at least year were unchanged in the quarter and rose 2 percent in the full year.

The New York-based jewelry company also says it expects its first-quarter earnings from operations will fall about 15 percent to 20 percent as a result of profitability pressures and higher marketing costs, but pick up later in the year.

For the current year, Tiffany expects sales growth of 6 percent to 8 percent, which means that sales are expected to be anywhere from $4.02 billion to $4.09 billion. Analysts project $4.02 billion

It expects full-year earnings of $3.43 per share to $3.53 per share. Analysts expect $3.46 per share.

Tiffany shares rose $1.32, or 1.9 percent, to close at $69.23 Friday.

HP shareholders give board members ?a giant ?no confidence? message?

By Steve Keating ORLANDO, Florida (Reuters) - Rory McIlroy's decision to skip the Arnold Palmer Invitational surprised the tournament host, who expressed his disappointment on Wednesday that the world number one was not at Bay Hill this week. The 83-year-old Palmer said he had jokingly suggested he might break McIlroy's arm if he did not show up but did not try to force the young Northern Irishman into making an appearance. "Frankly, I thought he was going to play, and I was as surprised as a lot of people when he decided he was not going to play," said Palmer. ...

Review: Olympus Has Fallen | People's Critic: Film Reviews ... - Blogs

I remember hearing Olympus Has Fallen described as Die Hard in the White House. Really?

While 1988?s Die Hard focused on a terrorist organization stealing millions worth of bonds from the Nakatomi Towers, Olympus focuses on a North Korean militant group attempting to blow North America with nuclear bombs.

Before we get to North Korea taking over 1600 Pennsylvania, the movie opens 18 months prior where we find Mike Banning (Gerard Butler), a secret service leading the presidential family in a caravan of cars through a vicious snow storm. ?President Asher (Aaron Eckhart) and the First Lady?s (Ashley Judd) car spins out on the ice leaving them trapped, dangling off the bridge. Banning saves the President from the vehicle right before the car falls off the bridge, killing the First Lady.

Fast forward to present day, Banning is no longer watching over the President and has a cushy desk job in the shadows of the White House at the Department of Treasury.

While President Asher is meeting with South Korea to discuss the ongoing threat of the North Korea, the White House is attacked. The President is rushed to the safety bunker below the White House.

Banning witnesses the horrific events from his office window and rushes over to help. After a deadly shootout on the White House lawn, Banning is the lone survivor trapped inside to rescue the President and his son.

Over the next hour, Gerard Butler does his best John McClane impersonation as he goes through the house dispatching bad guys one at a time ? and that?s not a complaint. He?s even shows some McClaneisms with a foul mouth sense of humor while he banters back and forth with Kang (Ninja Assassin?s Rick Yune). Not only is Banning looking to beat North Korea, he?s looking seeking a little redemption for the First Lady?s death.

Every good movie needs a good villain and Olympus has one in Kang. He?s ruthless, smug, smart, and just the right amount of evil. Kang isn?t merely a figure head or a face for the crime; he dishes out some vicious beatdowns to the President?s men and barks orders at his army like a madman.

Olympus is arguably Gerard Butler?s best film since 300 (sorry Bounty Hunter). He?s consistently good as the one man wrecking machine (see: Law Abiding Citizen), I?m surprised there aren?t more projects for him like this. Butler does everything you want your hero to do and more, and that?s no easy task. If pulling off a badass action movie was easy, so many actors wouldn?t get it wrong.

For those hoping to see an updated version of Harrison Ford?s Air Force One, you?ll be sadly mistaken. Olympus Has Fallen is not for the faint of heart. Antoine Fuqua takes full advantage of the film?s R-rating by infusing as much neck snapping violence as possible. The lifelike violence, multiple headshots, and torture scenes are enough to make most people cringe.

Speaking of Fuqua, the aerial attack on the White House is breathtaking. The POV shot of the plane circling while firing at the roof along looks amazing. After that attack, Fuqua takes a page out of Tears of the Sun with a heart pounding firefight on the White House lawn.

Despite Olympus plot being ripped out of today?s headlines, the premise itself ranks pretty high on the impossible scale. There are a few leaps of faith the film ask you to take, but taking that leap is well worth it ? what?s on the other side is Gerard handing out patriotic cans of whoopass for 35 minutes straight.
